A word about Fraud
October 28th 2014
Hacking and attacks on business/personnel computers has been around a long time. You would not think, or i hope you would not, of using a computer without some sort of protection (antivirus/firewall etc).
Now and i mean NOW is the time ot the telephone hacker. Unscrupulous people are hacking into business telephone systems on a regualar basis. They rely on the ‘softest’ part of the the telephone system for access, the users password. Users using default passwords ’0000′, ’1234′ etc
Once accessed a hacker can forward calls to premium or high tariff numbers, accumalating in huge bills in which YOU must pay.
As a hardware and network supplier we are constantly making are customers aware of these danagers. We are seeing approx 2 cases per month now. Yesterday (27/10/14) we have had a report of a call hack to an Ethiopian Mobile which accumulated to a bill of £1800
These sort of figures could be damamging to any business/person and could ultimately cause a business to fold.
Select Telecom Ltd offer a number of ways to protect and try to minimise call faud by the way of :
- Call fraud monitoring
- Software upgrades to telephone systems with enhanced security
